The Committee of 100 is proud to welcome Sue Van to our membership. Sue is the President and CEO of the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation, where she is responsible for the vision, strategic plan, and operations of the Foundation. A major goal of the Foundation is to support Asian American organizations dedicated to social justice and expanding Asian American civic engagement. She discussed her philosophy on philanthropy and work with the Foundation at C-100’s 2012 Annual Conference in Los Angeles. Last year, Ms. Van was awarded the C-100 Philanthropy Excellence Award at our 25th Anniversary Gala for her contributions. (watch her speech on Youtube here)
Prior to establishing the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation in 1999, Sue was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Coulter Corporation, responsible for the company’s long term strategy, as well as its financial and legal affairs. Coulter Corporation was the leader in global diagnostics that created and built the market for automated hematology which made blood cell testing affordable and accessible for the world.
Sue was born in Shanghai, China, and immigrated to the United States at the age of five. She has a B.A. in Political Science from American University, and an M.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University.
