New York, NY — At Committee of 100’s forthcoming 2025 Conference & Gala being held in Los Angeles this year, the organization will formally welcome seven new members into Committee of 100.
Committee of 100 is a nonprofit U.S. leadership organization of prominent Chinese Americans in business, government, academia, healthcare, and the arts, focused on public policy, civic engagement, philanthropy, arts, and culture. For more than 35 years, Committee of 100 has served as the preeminent organization committed to the dual missions of promoting the full participation of Chinese Americans in all aspects of American life and advancing constructive relations between the U.S. and Greater China. At the Conference & Gala each year, Committee of 100 welcomes an esteemed class of Members to the organization.

Committee of 100’s members are American citizens who are equally proud of their contributions to the U.S. and their Chinese heritage. Members of the organization are united by the belief in the fundamental American principles of equality and opportunity for all people, regardless of race, religion, national origin, gender, or creed. Committee of 100 and its members support the full inclusion and advancement of the more than five million Chinese Americans in the U.S. and believe that America is stronger because of its diverse citizenry.

American citizens of Chinese heritage are invited to Committee of 100 membership based on their extraordinary achievements. Members include pioneers in their respective fields across the arts, science, technology, business, and finance. With this new class, Committee of 100 now has over 150 members.
Committee of 100 is honored to introduce the seven new members for 2025:
Joyce Chang – Chair of Global Research at J.P. Morgan
Joyce Chang is Chair of Global Research at J.P. Morgan, with 36 years of expertise in macro, fixed income, emerging markets, and geopolitical research. Before assuming her current role in 2019, she was Global Head of Research, Global Head of Fixed Income Research and Head of Emerging Markets Research. She began her career as an Emerging Markets Strategist in 1990, earning 25 #1 individual rankings in Institutional Investor surveys and induction into the Fixed Income Analyst Society Hall of Fame in 2014. Previously, she was a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch and Salomon Brothers before joining J.P. Morgan Chase in 1999.
Joyce is the Executive Sponsor for J.P. Morgan Chase’s Asian heritage network (AsPIRE) and serves on the Executive Committee of the Women’s Leadership Forum. She holds leadership roles on the Boards of the German Marshall Fund, Trickle Up, and the Fixed Income Analyst Society and advises the Bretton Woods Committee and Center of Financial Stability. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Visitors and Advisory Councils for major universities, including Columbia, Princeton, Georgetown, and UC Berkeley.
A member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Inter-American Dialogue she has been recognized as one of American Banker’s Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance and Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in Finance.
Joyce holds an M.P.A. from Princeton and a B.A. from Columbia, where she received the John Jay Award and serves on its Board of Directors for the Asian Columbia Alumni Association.
Sheldon Pang – Vice Chairman of Freepoint Commodities LLC
Sheldon Pang is a prominent AAPI business leader specializing in international trade, finance, and emission reduction. He is the Vice Chairman of Freepoint Commodities LLC and Chairman of Freepoint Solar, driving sustainability and innovation in the energy sector.
Before Freepoint, Sheldon held leadership roles for two decades in global finance, including serving as President of the Pacific Group, Vice Chairman of RBC Capital Markets, and Managing Director at AIG International, where he built successful businesses raising funds for U.S. and Canadian government and agency debt.
Sheldon began his career as a Research Scientist at MIT in the late 1980s. He has been recognized for his public service through two U.S. presidential appointments, serving on the White House Commission for Presidential Scholars and on the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts.
A lifetime member of OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates, Sheldon received the OCA-WHV Dynamic Achiever Award for his contributions. His civic engagement includes serving on the Brookings Institution’s Foreign Policy Leadership Committee, the board of National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, and the board of USA Water Polo.
A strong advocate for education, Sheldon established scholarship funds at MIT and Brown University and served on boards including Carmel Academy, Brown’s Asia Advisory Council, and the American Zhu Kezhen Education Foundation. He holds a doctoral degree from MIT and a master’s degree from Vanderbilt University.
Li Chung (Sandi) Pei – Co-Founder & Partner at Pei Architects
Li Chung (Sandi) Pei is a distinguished architect with nearly five decades of experience in award-winning projects worldwide. A Harvard University graduate, he earned his Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Design in 1976. He began his career at I.M. Pei & Partners before co-founding PEI Architects with his late brother, C.C. (Didi) Pei.
Sandi has played a key role in designing landmark projects, including the MIT Arts + Media Technologies Facilities, Creative Artists Agency Headquarters, and Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong. His work also includes the Bank of China Head Office in Beijing, Suzhou Museum, Embassy of China in Washington, D.C., The Centurion Residences in New York, and Yonge Street Residential Tower in Toronto.
Dedicated to preserving his father’s legacy, Sandi helped organize “I. M. Pei: Life is Architecture”, the first retrospective of his father’s work, launching in 2024. He co-founded the I. M. and Eileen Pei Fellowship at Harvard and has pledged to archive his family’s contributions to architecture for future generations.
Sandi has served as a Director of AIA New York, a juror for the National Endowment for the Arts, and a lecturer at institutions worldwide, including Harvard, Cooper Union, and the Urban Land Institute. A passionate advocate for the arts, he sits on Christie’s Advisory Board and has been a MoMA International Council member since 2002, currently serving as Vice President and Assistant Secretary on its Executive Board.
Janet S. Wong – Accomplished Business & Leadership Executive
Janet S. Wong is an accomplished executive with over 30 years of leadership experience in professional services. She currently serves as an independent board director with expertise in corporate governance and finance, recognized as a Financial Expert by the SEC, NYSE, and Nasdaq.
Janet is on the boards of Lucid Group (Nasdaq: LCID), a luxury electric vehicle company, and TWFG (Nasdaq: TWFG), a leading national insurance company. She has previously served on the boards of Lumentum, Enviva, and Allegiance Bancshares, spanning industries from technology and energy to finance.
Her governance expertise has earned her numerous accolades, including recognition in NACD’s 2022 Directorship 100™, Board Prospects’ Top 30 Asian American Board Directors (2023), and Directors & Boards’ Women Public Company Directors to Watch (2024). A thought leader and frequent speaker, Janet provides insights on corporate governance, risk management, cybersecurity, AI, and leadership development.
Previously, she was a senior partner at KPMG, advising clients in technology, energy, financial services, and manufacturing. She also has strong governance experience in nonprofit and professional organizations, including the Louisiana Tech University Foundation, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and the Computer History Museum.
Janet is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and NACD Certified® Director. She holds a Master of Professional Accountancy from Louisiana Tech University, a Master of Taxation from Golden Gate University, and executive education certifications from Harvard Business School, Stanford Law School, and Carnegie Mellon University.
Sheryl WuDunn – Executive, Lecturer and Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist
Sheryl WuDunn, the first Chinese-American reporter to win a Pulitzer Prize, is a business executive and best-selling author committed to promoting social and economic opportunity. She is currently co-founder at FullSky Partners, advising for-profit ventures with a social mission in healthcare and innovative cancer technologies. She also is co-owner at Kristof Farms, which grows grapes and apples to produce the highly rated Kristof Wines and award-winning Kristof Farms cider.
Previously, Sheryl was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs in investment management. She also had a distinguished career at The New York Times, where she worked as both a journalist and an executive. As a foreign correspondent in Beijing and Tokyo, she and her husband, Nicholas Kristof, won the 1990 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting for their coverage of the Tiananmen Square protests, making her the first Asian American woman to receive the honor. She later led strategic planning and circulation initiatives at The Times, focusing on younger audiences.
Sheryl has co-authored several bestselling books, including China Wakes, Thunder from the East, Half the Sky, A Path Appears, and Tightrope. Her work has inspired documentaries, digital campaigns, and advocacy efforts centered on women’s rights, inequality, and global development, including the acclaimed Half the Sky PBS documentary.
Recognized by Fast Company’s League of Extraordinary Women and PBS’s The Makers, Sheryl holds degrees from Cornell (B.A.), Harvard (M.B.A.), and Princeton (M.P.A.). She currently serves on the Board of Overseers at Harvard University and is a former member of the Board of Trustees at Princeton University and Cornell University.
Hank Wuh – Surgeon, Creator and Investor
Hank Wuh, MD, MPH is a surgeon, creator, and investor dedicated to transforming innovative ideas into disruptive technologies. He has led the development of over 20 healthcare products from inception to market and mentors young entrepreneurs to drive impactful change.
Recognized as one of Goldman Sachs’ 100 Most Intriguing Builders and Innovators and a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, Hank is Chairman of Lymphax, Inc., which is pioneering biopharmaceutical treatments for glaucoma, a disease affecting over 80 million people worldwide. He is also a director of PDT, Inc., which is developing an artificial pancreas for Type I Diabetes.
Hank is a Trustee of the China Institute of America and previously served on the boards of the Fulbright Association and the University of Hawaii Foundation. A founder, investor, or advisor to over 50 technology companies, he continues to drive disruptive innovations ranging from AI and robotics to biopharmaceuticals. Hank earned his B.A. from Johns Hopkins, M.P.H. from Harvard, M.D. from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and orthopedic surgery residency at Stanford. Outside of his professional endeavors, he is an avid swimmer, mindfulness practitioner, song writer, and recently completed his first techno-thriller novel.
Mei Xu – Asian American Entrepreneur
Mei Xu is an Asian American entrepreneur, speaker, corporate board member, and award-winning author with over 20 years of experience in the consumer product and wellness industries. A passionate innovator, she has transformed fragrance and wellness markets while championing reshoring and entrepreneurship.
In 1994, Mei launched Chesapeake Bay Candle, growing it into a global enterprise with 1,400 employees and manufacturing in China, Vietnam, and the U.S. Her trend-driven approach revolutionized candles, turning them into fragrance-infused fashion statements sold at Bloomingdale’s, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Amazon. In 2011, she reshored 100 jobs to Maryland, and in 2016, she introduced the Mind & Body collection, the first wellness-focused fragrance line, generating $20 million annually. She successfully sold Chesapeake Bay Candle to Newell Brands in 2017.
A Columbia University Business School case study highlights her expertise in trend forecasting, resilient global supply chains, and strategic partnerships. In 2020, she launched Yes She May, an e-commerce platform empowering 100+ women-owned brands. Her memoir, Burn, chronicles her entrepreneurial journey from communist China to building a multimillion-dollar brand.
In 2023, she founded Concord Fragrances, debuting Blueme at Bloomingdale’s—a science-backed “functional fragrance” brand enhancing emotional well-being while promoting sustainability through refillable candles. For more than three decades, Committee of 100’s Conference & Gala has drawn hundreds of distinguished academics, policymakers, businesses, and next-generation leaders from across the U.S. for a series of discussions, debates, keynotes and networking sessions under the common goal of advocating for and promoting the full participation of all Chinese Americans in American society.
This year’s must-attend event will take place in Los Angeles on April 25-26 at the Fairmont Century Plaza. In addition to the general sessions, the 2025 Conference will have two concurrent tracks to cover important content on domestic issues faced by Chinese Americans in the U.S. and foreign relations. The evening of the 25th will be topped off with a black-tie celebratory Gala, where Shirley and Walter Wang will be honored.
