New York, NY (October 4, 2024) — Committee of 100, a nonprofit organization of prominent Chinese Americans, today released the following statement mourning the passing of former long- time member George Koo, who passed away in California.
“We are saddened by the passing of Geroge Koo, a respected former Member of Committee of 100 and active voice of the Chinese American community. Our thoughts go out to his family during this challenging time. As an organization, Committee of 100 remains dedicated to preserving his legacy and furthering the causes he championed with such passion.”
Starting his membership in 1997, George was a multi-decade active Member of Committee of 100, serving on multiple sub-committees and always generous with his time, energy, and passion for Chinese American issues. George immigrated to the U.S. as a child and earned degrees in chemical engineering from MIT, and his MBA from Santa Clara University. In lieu of flowers, the Koo family respectfully asks that you consider donations in his George’s name to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
