On Monday, September 21, 2015, the Committee of 100 hosted its Southern California Regional Members Meeting at the Huntington Library in San Marino, California. Eleven C-100 members participated in the meeting: Lily Lee Chen, John Chiang, Benjamin Chu, Julie Fong, Stewart Kwoh, David Lee, Richard Lee, Herman Li, John Long, Edmond Pi and Charlie Woo. The meeting was graciously hosted by C-100 Acting Chair, Herman Li. Prior to the meeting, Herman Li, Southern California Regional Co-Chairs Charlie Woo and Stewart Kwoh ,and C-100 member and California State Treasurer John Chiang all took a tour of the Huntington Library to explore potential venues for the 2016 C100 Annual Conference which will be hosted again in Los Angeles.
Laura Trombley, President of the Huntington Library, gave a warm welcome to the members and introduced some of the latest changes to the Library. During the meeting, Herman Li provided an update of the latest C-100 structural changes, ongoing staff additions, as well as upcoming events and activities in different regions, including the 2016 Annual Conference. Stewart Kwoh and Charlie Woo also provided updates on the venue search, programming and fundraising structures for the 2016 Conference, which led to a lively discussion among the members in attendance. Updates were also provided regarding the Southern California regional programs and activities including the Leadership and Mentoring Program (LMP), Global Chinese Philanthropy Initiative (GCPI), Mandarin Excellence Initiative and the latest workshops on economic espionage.
