Celebrate APA Heritage Month with Joan Chen’s Chinese American Journey

The month of May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) in the U.S. To celebrate, the Committee of 100 (C100) is posting brand new videos to its Chinese American Journeys series.

Today, we bring you the journey of C100 member Joan Chen, an acclaimed actress, film director, screenwriter, and producer. Her story brought the crowd to tears when she performed it at the C100 Annual Conference 2016. Watch her journey below.

This year’s C100 Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. will feature two new Chinese American Journeys speakers: trailblazing attorney Debra Wong Yang and renowned investor Ginger Lew. Join us on Friday, May 19, to hear their stories of struggle, success, and grit as Chinese Americans.

The C100 Annual Conference is the nation’s premier forum on U.S.-China relations and Asian American advancement. This will be Committee of 100’s largest member gathering of the year, elevating important discussions on the foremost issues in the U.S.-China relationship and the Chinese American community. This year, we expect over 500 major influencers in government, business, academia, and the media to join.

To follow all of C100’s Chinese American Journeys posts throughout APAHM, follow us at @committee100 on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

Chinese American Journeys are TED-style talks that are first performed live at the C100 Annual Conferences, then posted to YouTube. All speakers are C100 members. The series debuted in 2015.
