On Jan 10th, 2015 a historic concert and discussion will take place with the live appearance of three of the world’s leading composers, Chinese Americans Tan Dun, Chen Yi and Zhou Long, winners of Grammy, Academy Award, Grawemeyer Award and Pulitzer prize and more. The program will also serve as a tribute to noted 91 year old composer and protégé of Edward Varese, Chou Wen-Chung who first brought them to United States. This will be the first time all 4 composers have appeared together.
Music from all 4 composers will be played and the discussion will follow the artists musical journey from China to America. Performing groups will include: the award winning Ying Quartet and the Talujon Percussion Quartet. WQXR will broadcast the program on their upcoming “From China to America” festival on WQXR’s Q2 Music.
