New York, New York (October 20, 2023) – Over the past week, there has been a significant uptick in physical assaults and xenophobia directed at those of Muslim and Jewish descent here in the U.S., a reflection on the atrocities happening currently in the Middle East. Committee of 100, a non-profit U.S. leadership organization of prominent Chinese Americans, issued the following statement today:
“We at Committee of 100 are extremely saddened and outraged by the continued violence, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and harassment against the Muslim and Jewish communities here in the U.S. The Chinese American community knows all too well about being on the receiving end of hate and xenophobia. We have tremendous empathy for the innocent Muslim and Jewish lives that are being impacted here.”
