Committee of 100 Condemns the Recent Racist Language Used by Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

18th July 2023

New York, NY (July 18, 2023) — Committee of 100, a nonprofit organization of prominent Chinese Americans, today issued the following statement in response to presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s comments that Covid-19 was ethnically targeted to attack Caucasians and African Americans, while sparing Jewish and Chinese people.

“The recent xenophobic remarks made by  presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. asserting that Covid-19 targeted some races, but spared others was deplorable, irresponsible, and inexcusable. This type of language drives the vicious cycle of hatred, race baiting and violence towards minority communities across the U.S.,” said Cindy Tsai, Interim President of Committee of 100. “We will not sit idly by and allow racially charged language to go unchecked. Words have meaning, and racially charged words have consequences. We strongly condemn the language used by Robert F. Kennedy.”
