FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Committee of 100 Annual Conference to Explore Most Pressing Topics on US-China Relations and Chinese-American Issues
(New York, NY, Santa Clara, Calif. — April 23, 2018) — An estimated 500 leaders and major influencers in government, business, technology, academia, and media are expected to attend the Committee of 100 (C100) 2018 Annual Conference, the nation’s premier forum on US-China relations and Chinese-American advancement. The 2018 conference will be held on May 5-6, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara, California. With the theme, “Silicon Valley: Bridge between the United States and China,” this much-anticipated summit will focus on timely trade, economic, and technology issues and the role of Silicon Valley and Chinese-Americans as a bridge between the two countries.
Developments in U.S.-China relations can have significant local and global impact. According to the Committee of 100 U.S.-China Public Perceptions 2017 Survey, the $350 billion U.S. trade deficit is the top concern among Americans regarding the relationship between the two countries. In contrast, a majority of Americans agree that U.S.-China trade is beneficial to the U.S. economy and Chinese investment should be encouraged. A panel dedicated to the topic will discuss these differing viewpoints and highlight opportunities for improvement within the trade relationship.
Other topics include a discussion on the geopolitical and global impact of President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative; the intersection of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship between the U.S. and Silicon Valley; and a fireside chat on the state of AI technology advancement and its long-term implications in the U.S. China relationship.
Immediately following the May 5th summit, an awards gala dinner is scheduled from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, as well as a C100 town hall meeting the next day (May 6th) from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
